Why a daily limit

Praise that costs nothing to give is worth nothing to get. That's the shout-out channel where everyone is amazing every day and nobody reads it. When you only have a few to hand out, spending one is a decision, and getting one means somebody made it.

The rest is visibility. The person who quietly fixed the thing before anyone noticed it was broken. The teammate three timezones away whose best work never lands in your channel. The leaderboard isn't there to crown a winner. It's there so the work goes on the record.

Setting it up

  1. Add it. You'll need permission to add apps to your workspace.
  2. Invite @onya to your channels. It only sees channels it's been invited to, public or private. Until you do that, nothing happens, which is also the reason it can't read the rest of your Slack.
  3. Make it yours. /onya admin emoji raised_hands, /onya admin limit 5, /onya admin tz Australia/Sydney. Admins only. Everything else is /onya help.
